We talked at the UN with persons connected with the oil-for-food programme. We have food surpluses in Poland, as well as good products. We are prepared to consolidate activities in this area," - Mr Wróbel said after signing the agreement.
The agreement provides for joint organisation of economic projects under the reconstruction programme for Iraq, including crude oil extraction and development of oil reserves, repair and operation of refineries and power plants, modernisation and construction of railway networks, repair and construction of water and sewage treatment plants, repair and operation of cement mills and construction materials plants, technical assistance to industrial plants, implementation of the oil-for-food programme.
By signing the agreement with POLIMEX-CEKOP, PKN ORLEN has undertaken to closely cooperate with respect to organising financial and technical support for oil extraction and development of oil reserves in Iraq, and use the crude oil for its own needs or sell it. PKN ORLEN has agreed to co-finance, under offset arrangements, the supplies and construction work by POLIMEX-CEKOP in Iraq.
The Presidents of both companies addressed a letter to the President of the Polish Republic, the Prime Minister, and members of the government, notifying them of the conclusion of the agreement.
