ORLEN and Synthos reach agreement paving the way for Poland’s first SMR nuclear power plant in Włocławek

Equalisation of partner rights, secured access to U.S. technology, designation of the first project site, and agreement on the next steps – ORLEN has successfully concluded negotiations on the operating model of OSGE. The agreement with Synthos paves the way for tangible steps that will lead to the development of Poland’s first small modular reactor (SMR) plant, to be constructed in Włocławek – a site selected by ORLEN.

ORLEN Increases Gas Production in Norway by 500 Million Cubic Meters

ORLEN Upstream Norway, together with its partners, has completed the third phase of development of the Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea. The project introduced innovative technical solutions to significantly boost the field’s gas production rate. ORLEN expects its share of gas from Ormen Lange to increase by approximately 0.5 billion cubic meters per year during peak output period.

ORLEN Installs More Offshore Wind Turbines – Five Already in the Baltic Sea

At Baltic Power – the first Polish offshore wind farm, jointly developed by ORLEN and Northland Power – five turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW, have already been installed. A single day of their operation can provide enough power to charge nearly 18,000 electric vehicles. These are the largest turbines currently available in Europe and were manufactured by Denmark’s Vestas. Some of the nacelles are manufactured locally, including at a facility in Szczecin.

ORLEN and Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza sign MoU to accelerate biomethane production in Poland

ORLEN and Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza (KGS), Poland’s largest state-owned agri-food group, have entered into a memorandum of understanding to develop a nationwide biomethane portfolio. Under the new agreement, the parties will, inter alia, construct biomethane production facilities. The project is expected to curb CO₂ emissions, strengthen Poland’s energy security and independence, and enhance overall grid stability.
