ORLEN launches sales of HVO100

The ORLEN Group has initiated sales of its HVO100 fuel at two service stations in Germany. HVO100 is a second-generation biofuel, made from vegetable oils and waste products from the food and hospitality industries, including used cooking oil. It has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90 per cent compared to conventional fossil fuels. HVO100 can be used in most diesel engine vehicles without any modifications. The introduction of this fuel to the Polish market will be possible once the ongoing legislative work on quality requirements is completed.

ORLEN’s hydrogen refuelling station opened in Poznań

ORLEN has inaugurated its first public 24-hour hydrogen refuelling station in Poznań, capable of serving cars, trucks and buses. The new station is a component of the Clean Cities project, co-financed by the EU under the CEF instrument and the national Green Public Transport programme. It will support a fleet of 25 city buses operated by the municipal transport company MPK Poznań, under a 15-year contract whereby ORLEN has committed to delivering 1.8 million kilograms of hydrogen fuel.

ORLEN expands its fuel station network in Europe dynamically

Following the acquisitions in Austria, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary, ORLEN's foreign station count has surged by almost a third over the past year. The Group is currently finalising the purchase of more than 60 service stations in Hungary. As a result of its rapid expansion in the retail segment, motorists will be able to refuel their cars at as many as 3,500 ORLEN locations across seven European countries by mid-2024.

ORLEN to expand retail presence into Austria

The European Commission has given the green light to ORLEN’s proposed acquisition of 266 fuel stations in the Austrian market. When the deal is completed, Austria will be the seventh European retail market to be served by the ORLEN fuel network. It will position ORLEN close to achieving 97 per cent of its strategic objective for the number of stations in its portfolio by the year 2030. As a result, ORLEN is set to emerge as one of the three major players in the Austrian fuel market, commanding a retail market share of about 10 per cent.

Upon the closing of the transaction, ORLEN will rank among the top three fuel networks in Austria, holding a 10% retail market share. Thanks to this dynamic expansion, ORLEN customers will have access to a robust and modern network of more than 3,400 fuel stations across seven Central European countries. ORLEN's strengthening presence in Central Europe, enabled in part through fuel station acquisitions, has been made possible by effectively leveraging the company's enhanced capabilities following the merger with Grupa LOTOS and PGNiG. The combined synergies and benefits unleashed by ORLEN's acquisition of these two companies are projected to exceed PLN 20 billion by 2032, twice the amount originally estimated before the two mergers were finalized.
