Sustainability is the driving force behind the ORLEN2030 strategy. Therefore, the ORLEN Group Sustainable Development Strategy 2021–2023 has been integrated with the ORLEN2030 business strategy and our decarbonisation strategy until 2050. The three documents aim to support an ambitious business agenda for the next decade, strengthen our financial performance and build long-term value for all stakeholders. This integrated approach enables us to capture opportunities created by the changing environment and create value in our socially responsible energy transition. Our Sustainable Development Strategy supports delivery of the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement, UN 2030 Agenda and European Green Deal.
Pillars of sustainable development strategy
The new ORLEN Sustainable Development Strategy is built around three ESG pillars: Environmental, Social and Governance. The Environmental pillar focuses on climate, climate risk management and effective implementation of raw material management practices. The Social pillar focuses on local communities as a constant and invaluable source of inspiration for our CSR initiatives. ORLEN leverages its significant purchasing power in the region to promote sustainability across value chains. Our goal is to extend product responsibility to cover the entire product life cycle, including the raw materials used, product development, manufacturing and use, and then its recycling. Our goal is also to promote responsible consumption behaviour among our customers. The Governance pillar focuses on developing solutions that facilitate incorporation of ESG principles into our management systems, on accurate and transparent reporting, and on ethics and organisational values.
ESG
ESG is an important part of strategic management for the ORLEN Group. ESG considerations are integrated into the ORLEN Group’s business strategy to enhance the Group’s financial performance and build long-term value for all stakeholders.
Environment
Climate governance is the central element of sustainable development at the ORLEN Group. Our management standards and systems have evolved towards strategic measures reducing the Group’s contribution to climate change and adapting business models to address the physical consequences of climate change for the Company’s assets.
Society
Our priority is sustainable development across all our activities, understood as care for future generations. This means that in building the ORLEN Group’s position we attach equal importance to our business and CSR agendas.
